Story
Amanda Nickerson, LLMSW-Clinical | Therapist | Specializes in Art Based Healing | Ages 5 - 105 | Holistic, Trauma Informed

Join with Amanda on your journey, she is a compassionate and integrative mental health clinician dedicated to supporting children, adolescents and adults. She has her Master of Social Work from GVSU and Bachelor of Fine Arts Kendall College of Art and Design, with honors.
Amanda specializes in working with individuals impacted by complex trauma, including childhood abuse, religious trauma, and systemic adversity. Her clinical experience includes supporting clients navigating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), suicidal ideation, eating disorders, substance use and addiction, personality disorders, and involvement in the criminal justice system, including individuals on parole and those with incarceration histories. She also has a strong commitment to serving vulnerable populations, including children in foster care.
Her therapeutic approach is holistic, trauma-informed, and client-centered, integrating traditional evidence-based practices with creative and expressive modalities. Drawing from her background in the arts, Amanda incorporates art therapy and music-based interventions to help clients access, process, and express experiences that may be difficult to verbalize. She believes in meeting clients where they are, honoring their living experiences, and fostering resilience through both clinical insight and creative exploration.
Amanda is an affirming and inclusive provider who proudly supports LGBTQIAA++ individuals and communities. She is committed to creating a safe, nonjudgmental therapeutic space where all clients feel seen, respected, and empowered in their healing journey.
